There are several films of Joe teaching his standing mat work at Jacob’s Pillow and it’s quite different from lying flat mat! This class will include components of that, plus to the more traditional standing mat, which is the lying flat turned vertical. Each provides a great challenge as we work against gravity.

A signature Pilates School class, and supported by video content you can practice daily. Your feet take you everywhere, all your life. Learn how to strengthen, lengthen and mobilize your lower leg/foot and feel its connection to your whole body.

If you’re missing the stretch and challenge of Joe’s springed apparatus – or even if you have no idea what that means – this class will help you reform your body in unexpected ways. The concept of using your powerhouse to stabilize and facilitate moving the limbs is never clearer; the oppositional stretch and strengthening of the springs is Pilates /Contrology at it’s best.
